Organizational Structure

Board of Directors:

The International Conference on Canadian, Chinese and African Sustainable Urbanization (ICCCASU) is governed by a Board of Directors which is primarily responsible for setting policy, monitoring the financial well-being of the organization, and making decisions pertaining to all major ICCCASU issues.  Membership on the Board of Directors is for a period of 2.5-years (extending until the end of 2022).

Role:  Determining the structure, policies, governance and future of the organization.  Members are drawn from those who have been involved with ICCCASU from its inception and have been actively involved in its three conferences.

Advisory Committee:

The Advisory Committee consists of a group of individuals from various sectors and disciplines around the world with expertise and/or an interest in urbanization and sustainable urban development. The mandate of the Advisory Committee is to provide advice to the Board of Directors and the Organizing Committee on ICCCASU's development policy, the well-being of the organization, and all major ICCCASU initiatives. The members of the Advisory Committee are also asked to promote ICCCASU and advocate on its behalf.  Membership on the Advisory Committee is for a period of 2.5-years (extending until the end of 2022).

Organizing Committee:

Under the leadership of the Board of Directors and in close collaboration with the Advisory Committee and the Scientific Committee, the Organizing Committee is principally responsible for managing the daily operations of the ICCCASU, including planning for conferences and the preparation of proceedings. Membership on this Committee is for a period of 1.5-years (extending until the end of 2021).

ICCCASU nominated two co-presidents: one from UN-Habitat and another from University of Ottawa to representing each institution.  There are 5 Vice-presidents, 4 of them are from our 4 partners: UN-Habitat, Canada, China and African countries, one extra VP is reserved for the host country of each particular ICCCASU conference. The nomination is usual by consensus.
